Manipur organises a month of festivities for ISKCON 50


ISKCON Manipur organised a series of festivals lasting a month in August for ISKCON’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

The Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur Shri Gaikhangam inaugurated the Krishna Janmastami Celebrations of ISKCON Manipur in the presence of the Chief Guest, Commerce and Industries Minister, Govindas Konthoujam, Social welfare and cooperation Minister, Kumari A.K. Mirabai and His Holiness Bhaktivyasa Tirtha Swami.

After the ministers had ‘darshan’ of Sri Sri Radhakrishnachandra, they were escorted to the ISKCON 50 Expo that was created by the ISKCON 50 Global Office. Devotees explained the rich history of ISKCON and presented the achievements of Srila Prabhupada and the Hare Krishna movement.

A four day Achintya Youth Festival was organised from 21st to 24th August. The inaugural function was presided by Dr. I.Ibohalbi Singh, member of Legislative Assembly and leader of opposition.

The youth festival included a cultural programme, martial arts, seminars on topical issues. Guests at the event included Dr. Ch Jamini Devi, former chairperson, Manipur State Women’s Commission and Dr. Sudipto Ghosh of IIT, Kharagpur respectively, and popular film stars G. Bonny Sharma and Soma Laishram.
